The assistive technology that I chose was the SmartBoard. With SmartBoard's, students are able to use only their fingers to control what is done on them. This allows the classroom to be more interactive, thus having an impact on students that would struggle with ADHD or ADD. The teacher can pull up different pictures or educational games to go along with his/her lesson, or to use it as a follow up. In a case where a student might be hearing impaired, the teacher can write on the SmartBoard what is being said in the lesson, with the important words emphasized with drastic or bold colors to allow them to stand out. There are many useful tools encompassed within the technology of SmartBoards and I feel they should be more incorporated into the classroom.
